The use of the influencer monitor has proven to be highly effective: as many as 95% of the posts in question are edited or removed.
The challenge
Health claims spread quickly on social media. Influencers often promote supplements and self-care products without knowing that specific advertising rules apply. The Inspection Board needed a way to systematically monitor influencer content and identify potential violations before they could mislead consumers.
The approach
Using Influencer Monitor, the Inspection Board monitors a network of 3,327 creators and conducts targeted searches for topics such as:
- Probiotics
- Hormones
- Fish oil
- Magnesium
The team also performs targeted searches for specific brands and creators.
The impact
By actively monitoring influencer marketing:
- Consumers are better protected
- Advertisers become more aware of the rules
- Compliance improves
- Trust in oversight increases
In addition, this approach increases the Inspection Board's visibility within the social media landscape. As a result, influencers become more aware of the applicable rules and their responsibilities, which contributes to better compliance and more careful communication with consumers.
Favourite feature
Advanced filtering and monitoring
Instead of tracking violations one by one, findings can now be grouped and reviewed more efficiently. This gives the team a clear overview of trends, recurring issues and advertisers that require follow-up.
“The monitoring ensures transparency and helps identify where potential violations occur”
About the organisation

The Inspection Board monitors compliance with advertising regulations for OTC medication, medical self-care devices, and health products such as food supplements. This is based on self-regulation. The industry, media, and advertisers have established joint standards—based on laws and regulations and in consultation with regulators—with which public advertising must comply.
The Inspection Board assesses and monitors compliance with these rules, thereby contributing to responsible advertising and reliable information for consumers. At the same time, it promotes a level playing field in which the same rules apply to all providers.
